3 Components To Creating A Buzz Around Your Youth Ministry

It’s been exactly one month today since we arrived in Alaska to serve as the new NextGen Pastors of Fairbanks First Assembly! People thought we were crazy to leave the warm climate & palm trees of Sacramento for the sub-zero temps & snow of the Last Frontier, but when God calls, you gotta go! God is doing incredible things in our students lives & youth ministry “Vertical NextGen!” We’re seeing numerical growth, spiritual hunger & unity among students & leaders! Here are 3 components to creating a buzz around your youth ministry that we’ve implemented in the last 4 weeks…

#1 Create Identity – Make your ministry visual & verbal by crafting a name & logo that students will vertical blackremember, see & say! Plaster it all over your flyers, social media accounts & make hashtags using your ministry name! Take lots of pics at your gatherings & tag your students & leaders. We just renamed our ministry “Vertical” & created a new logo & touch cards to pass out in mass!

#2 Create Environments – Aside from your weekly gathering, craft environments that give newphoto 3 students a reason to come & connect with you, your leaders & Jesus! We hosted a city-wide New Years Eve party at an indoor skatepark & were able connect with many new teens & un-churched students!

#3 Create Ownership – Share your platform & give away ministry by offering your leaders & students the opportunity to serve & lead within your ministry as much as possible! This creates a sense of ownership in your leaders & students that will keep them involved & more likely to invite new friends! Whether it’s a student sharing a testimony, reading a poem, running sound or playing in the worship band – nothing creates a buzz more than student involvement!photo 1
