BATTLE FOR A GENERATION: Fighting On The Front Lines Of America’s High Schools

God opened a huge door for us this past school year to minister on campus at one of the largest High Schools in our city – Laguna Creek!

IMG_2253Every Wednesday during both lunches, we bring donuts to the Christian Club & engage students with a simple, yet dynamic Gospel message & end with a time of prayer. We’ve seen the Christian Club grow from 10 to 20 to 30 to 40 to 50+ students on average with many coming to Christ & many more growing deeper in their faith each week!

This past Wednesday was our “Outa School Bash” event, where we got permission to promote & use the school theatre to do a big outreach. We brought in free pizza & one of our interns to perform “Feats of strength” while sharing his powerful testimony of overcoming drugs, gangs, fatherlessness & abuse by turning to Christ! The result was hundreds of hungry (Literally) teenagers showing up to eat pizza & hear the Gospel – with many coming to Christ & getting connecting to our youth ministry! Praise God!! IMG_2269

Laguna Creek High is in the same school district that made national headlines in 2004 regarding a lawsuit to have the phrase “One nation under God” removed from the Pledge of Allegiance, which was later struck down by the U.S Supreme Court.

The enemy is waging a bloody battle for the souls of this generation & the front lines of this war can be found on campus all across America’s public High Schools.

IMG_2266There are many casualties in this war with teen suicide, mental-illness, sex, gang violence, drug use & alcoholism on the rise in many areas of the country. Much of this is the manifestation of decades of teaching these students atheism, secular humanism & evolution. But…

“When the enemy shall come in like a flood, the Spirit of the Lord shall lift up a standard against him.” Isaiah 59:19

As Christians, we must be praying for God to pour out his Spirit on our High Schools! As Youth Pastors, we must be doing everything in our power to take this fight to the front-lines & equip our students to be Jesus on their campus & show & tell his love!IMG_2264
